Ming’s Hotel

This project was for a new four-story hotel with a restaurant and one level of underground parking.  With this site considered as part of the “Gateway to the Baylands”, the intent of the building design was to use natural colors and materials and to give the building a low and horizontal feel that is compatible with the spirit of the Baylands.  The upper two floors step back to create opportunities for usable planted terraces while the upper roof provides space for photovoltaic panels.  A planting palette drawing inspiration from the Baylands, low berming and informational signage about native plants and species of the Baylands was intended to enhance the corner of the property.
